Sauna Market Forecast 2026–2035: What the Latest Numbers Actually Say

Oct 26,2026

Every quarter brings a fresh set of sauna market forecasts, and they rarely agree. For buyers and specifiers, the useful question is not which number is right — it is what the spread between them tells you about how to plan.

The Numbers on the Table
Four current forecasts, published between late 2025 and mid 2026, frame the range:

  • Grand View Research puts the global sauna market at USD 954.2 million in 2025, rising to USD 1,008.0 million in 2026 and USD 1,556.9 million by 2033.
  • SNS Insider forecasts USD 937.34 million in 2025 growing to USD 1,715.41 million by 2035, a CAGR of 6.23%.
  • Dataintelo frames the wider sauna and steam room category at USD 4.8 billion in 2025 reaching USD 8.6 billion by 2034, a CAGR of 6.7%.
  • Mordor Intelligence, measuring the broader sauna and spa market rather than equipment alone, estimates USD 155.63 billion for 2026, up from USD 148.79 billion in 2025.

The equipment-level forecasts cluster in the 6–7% compound growth range. The wider category forecasts grow at similar rates but from a much larger base, because they include services, real estate and hospitality revenue alongside hardware.

Why the Spread Matters More Than the Number

The gap between USD 937 million and USD 954 million for the same year is not a disagreement about direction. It is a difference in scope — what each house counts as "sauna" and where it draws the line between equipment and installation.

For an equipment buyer, three things are more actionable than the headline figure:

Growth is steady, not explosive. A 6–7% CAGR describes a category that compounds reliably. It does not describe a bubble, and it does not justify building capacity for a spike that the data does not support.

The heater category is growing faster than the room category. One industry analysis puts the global sauna heater segment at roughly USD 150 million in 2023, doubling to approximately USD 300 million by 2032 — about 7.5% annually, above the category average. Helium demand for components tends to lead demand for complete rooms.

Regional growth is uneven. The United States sauna market alone was valued at USD 437.4 million in 2025 by Technavio, with growth of USD 161.3 million forecast for 2026–2030 at 6.5%. That is a single market generating close to half the global equipment figure — a concentration worth understanding before committing inventory.

What This Means for Specification Decisions

If the category compounds at 6–7%, the competitive pressure is not on volume. It is on specification quality — because a market growing steadily rewards suppliers whose products pass inspection the first time and stay in service.

Three practical consequences:

Certification becomes the gating factor, not price. As more entrants enter a 6% market, the differentiator shifts to which products can legally be sold where. A heater without the right mark is not a cheaper option; it is an unsellable one.

Service life becomes a selling argument. In a market without a boom, buyers keep equipment longer. Products designed for descaling, drainage and element protection hold their value better than products that are merely cheaper at the point of order.

Component demand leads room demand. If the heater segment is growing faster than the room segment, specification decisions made at the component level are being made earlier in the project cycle — which favours suppliers who publish real engineering data rather than brochures.

A Note on Forecast Discipline

Market forecasts are estimates built from different sampling frames, and they are revised. Anyone using them to justify a capacity decision should treat the direction and the range as the signal, and the precise figure as noise.

What the current range does support is a straightforward conclusion: this is a steadily growing category with a rising bar for compliance and service quality.
